Grief: A New Way of Life

A person's grief may not always show but rest assured it is always there.

Grief changes you and is a life-long journey.
A journey through uncharted territory with no map or provisions.
Athletes can train. Musicians can practice.
Grievers have no program to follow and no sheet music to read.

We go blind and raw into a new life.
The us that the world sees does not match what goes on inside.
It’s not a picture we can draw. It's not feelings we can always explain. Sometimes what's on the inside pours out when we are the least prepared.

We detach and reattach ourselves to this reality, painfully, every day.
We smile through the pain, even laugh, but sometimes we just cant.
They say the amount of grief reflects the amount of the love shared. But sometimes it feels like more.
It hurts. It sickens. Its heavy. Its always.

"How can I help you?" ... You cant.
That hurts us too because those who love us, hurt for us.
"What can I do?" ... Nothing.
Just hold on. With both hands. Please.

To the grievers...I see you.
To those who hold the grievers...thank you.
